The 2019 CALL/ACAMS Annual Conference takes place in Toronto, Ontario, May 30 - June 2, 2019.

The Conference will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto.

This year's Conference will once again present a comprehensive, critical and timely review of legal issues of significance to all those who represent and provide legal counsel to trade unions. The Conference will feature many of the country's leading labour lawyers and academics, including practitioners who have argued many of the cases to be discussed. There will be a mixture of plenaries and workshops, with simultaneous interpretation in both French and English for all sessions (approval is being sought to accredit sessions for mandatory legal education credits).

Topics will include:

  • The Most Significant Labour Law Cases of the Past Year
  • Legalized Marijuana and the Workplace
  • Professional Discipline and Labour Law
  • Ethics – Civility; Complying with Production Orders; Dealing with the Self Represented
  • Truth and Reconciliation: A Nuts and Bolts Primer for Labour Lawyers and When Labour Law Meets Indigenous Rights
  • Freedom Not to Associate
  • #MeToo 2.0
  • Supreme and Appellate Court Update

The Conference will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto. There will of course be lots of exciting social activities, including a cocktail reception at Casa Loma, and an evening of dining and dancing at the top of one of Toronto’s chic new venues on King Street, with a large terrace with spectacular views of the city and lake. In addition, there are several optional events before the Conference, including a guided visit to the McMichael Gallery north of the city, a bicycle tour of the Toronto Islands, and a tour of Anishnawbe Health Toronto’s Gerrard Street location to learn more about Toronto’s Indigenous community health centre and their vital work in the community.

Please note that this year CALL is using an on-line reservation system, rather than a paper registration system. Childcare will be available at no charge.

We look forward to seeing you there!
