POSITION OF THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF LABOUR LAWYERS / ASSOCIATION CANADIENNE DES AVOCATES DU MOUVEMENT SYNDICAL (CALL/ACAMS)

Last month, Council received a petition signed by close to 300 members, and approved by several CALL-ACAMS committees. The motion was ratified and, earlier this week, Council issued the attached statement.

In addition, CALL-ACAMS will begin the process of ensuring that its policies and practices align with the values expressed in the motion. To that end, the Executive has created a Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC). The Committee will review actions CALL-ACAMS and its members can take, internally and externally, to achieve justice for Palestinians. Over the next months, the PSC, in coordination with community groups, will be preparing workshops related to rights and protections that currently exist under law. If you are interested in building the PSC, please reach out directly to the coordinator, Karen Segal.

Finally, in 2023, CALL-ACAMS members created the Palestine Legal Referral Services, a national service that connects individuals facing repercussions at the workplace for expressing views in support of Palestine and Palestinians with experienced legal counsel. If you are interested in joining the PLRS roster, please reach out through the website or directly to Amy Kishek.
