Welcome!

Ten years ago, St. John’s hosted the 1996 C.A.L.L. Annual Conference, and, by all accounts everyone had a grand time. We are hoping that your return to the “City of Legends” will be an equally rewarding and memorable experience. Along with your formal agenda, we have organized a number of social events and here provide you with opportunities to explore the unique history, culture and environment of North America’s oldest city. Some of these events have been organized and all you need to do is show up. For those of you who remember the enchanting performance of Pamela Morgan at the Ship Inn, we have arranged for her to weave her musical web again for you after the Banquet on Saturday Night at the fascinating Johnson GeoCentre.

For the adventuresome we have provided a couple of opportunities for you to test your metal with either a boat tour or a sea kayaking adventure. We also here provide you with links to a host of other sites, attractions and places of interest in and around St. John’s. Through these links you can explore options and build your own adventures. Should you have any questions want suggestions or advice, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our Weather

For those of you not familiar with the vagaries of spring weather on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean we offer some advice. Environment Canada reports that the temperature in St. John’s in May has ranged from -6.3 to +25.4 degrees C. An Extreme Daily Snowfall has reached 25.4 cm. and the sky has been known to dump up to 80 mm. of rain in one day. But we have also had wonderful, warm summer weather at this time of year. In other words, May can bring any possible type of weather you could imagine. A check of Environment Canada's website for the long range forecast for the area might help narrow down what you can expect.
