Judith Allen
Judith Allen is one of the founding partners of the law firm RAVEN, ALLEN, CAMERON, BALLANTYNE & YAZBECK L.L.P./s.r.l.. The firm's practice is restricted to union-side labour, employee-side employment, complainant-side human rights and other administrative law involving both federally and provincially regulated public sector and private sector unions. This work involves presenting grievance arbitrations, sitting on boards of arbitration, appearing before labour Boards (for eg., P.S.S.R.B.; C.I.R.B.; O.L.R.B.), human rights tribunals and participating in judicial review proceedings, appeals and injunctions in both Ontario and Federal courts. Judith was a Steering Committee Member and Lobbyist for the National Association of Women and the Law (1989/90) and worked as a legal policy analyst in the Equality section of the Court Challenges Program, prior to practising labour law. She taught the Law of Employment at the University of Ottawa Law School in the winter term of 1991.
John Carpenter
After serving his articles with the Attorney General of Alberta, John joined Chivers-Greckol as an associate. In 1992, John joined the partnership of Chivers Greckol & Kanee, now Chivers Carpenter. With a particular interest in injured workers, John has argued a number of cases relating to the "duty to accommodate," regularly represents injured workers before the Appeals Commission of the Alberta Workers' Compensation Board, argues arbitrations on behalf of his clients, and appears before the Alberta Labour Relations Board and the Alberta Courts at all levels. John has been a panelist in a number of forums, including the National Academy of Arbitrators Annual Meeting, the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers Annual Conference and the University of Calgary Labour Arbitration Conference. John was a Tour Co-Chair of the Governor General's Canadian Study Conference 2000 and has for a number of years been serving as Chair of the Alberta Workers' Health Centre.
Winton Gereluk
Winston Gereluk is Academic Coordinator for Industrial Relations & Human Resources in the School of Business, Athabasca University. For the last nine years, he has also worked with Public Services International (PSI),
Ferney-Voltaire, France, as well as the International Confederation of
Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD (TUAC) in activities associated with industrial relations and
community issues relating to sustainable development. In particular, he
has represent the international trade union movement at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, the OECD Environment Policy Committee, the International Labour Office, and numerous other international agencies, expert bodies and fora on matters relating to sustainable development. Most recently, he headed up the trade union delegation to the International Renewable Energies Conference sponsored by Chancellor Gerhard Schroder in Bonn, Germany 1-4 June 2004. Gereluk continues to teach courses in occupational health & safety for the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
